MultiplayerDoom 3 was released with a four-player multiplayer element, featuring four game modes. However, the game`s community created a modification to boost this to eight or sixteen players. The Resurrection of Evil expansion would later officially increase the player limit to eight. The four game modes are all deathmatches. The standard deathmatch game mode involves each player moving around a level, collecting weaponry and killing the other players, with the player with the highest kills when the time runs out winning. A team variation of this involves the same principle. The third game mode is "last man standing", in which each player has a limited amount of respawns, with players losing a life when they are killed. Eventually, all but one player will be eliminated from the game, leaving the survivor as the winner. The final game mode is "tourney", in which two players fight each other while the other players watch as spectators. The victor of the battle remains in the arena, facing each other player one at a time until the winner of previous rounds is defeated. The loser then moves to the spectators and the new winner remains to fight the next player. The Xbox version of Doom 3 also incorporated an additional two-player co-operative mode for the main single-player game.
Multiplayer Levels- D3DM1 - Tomiko Reactor
Tomiko Reactor is the first deathmatch level in Doom 3. It is centered around a large laser room, in which the laser fires intermittently. - D3DM2 - Delta Lab
Delta Lab is the second deathmatch level in Doom 3. It features an interactive megahealth generator, allowing to reach 200 health, provided one of the other players does not get it first. - D3DM3 - Frag Chamber
Frag Chamber is the third deathmatch map in Doom 3. It is centered on an interactive invisibility generator, which also serves as a trap if someone were to try to grab up the item while someone else is near the switch, as the operation of the generator closes the room and activates lethal machinery. - D3DM4 - The Edge 2
The Edge 2 is the fourth deathmatch map in Doom 3. Centered around a courtyard, it is a spiritual successor to "Q2DM1: The Edge" from Quake II. It features a berserker power-up that can be reached through a teleporter or by jumping down from a higher level. - D3DM5 - Lights Out
Lights out is the fifth and last deathmatch map in Doom 3. The map's gimmick is most lights can be turned off by shuttering the windows and turning off the generator. However, the generator restarts automatically after a few seconds.
